Each year, over one hundred local teachers and professionals join us at the World Affairs Challenge as judges. Their role is essential to the success of the Challenge as a whole as well as to the Center for Teaching International Relations in meeting our goal of fostering life long learners. Judges don’t only grade team presentations and collaborative questions, they end up learning a lot themselves!
In the past, CTIR’s focus has been on programming for the student participants. While that is and will always be our primary focus, we are organizing this year’s challenge programming with judges in mind as well. Ways judges can expect to engage with each other and the students throughout the day:
-
Mid-Day activities for large groups on various topics will provide a venue for more interaction between judges and student participants.
-
Training opportunities in multicultural awareness during ‘down-time’.
-
Engage with local NGO’s representatives, perhaps find a new volunteer opportunity at our NGO Networking Forum.
-
Discover your new favorite restaurant at our Global Food Court lunch!
As always, serving as a judge is a purely voluntary effort, there is no registration cost, and little if any costs associated with the event day. (We will be providing breakfast and lunch for you)
A BIG thanks to all the judges who volunteered in 2012. We couldn’t have done this without you! Information on the 2013 competition will be updated in August!
