Our partners are vital to the students’ WAC experience.
These interactions provide an opportunity of a lifetime for
students to make a difference in the world. In an effort to
consider the cultural impact of their solutions and to build professional connections, teams are encouraged to collaborate
with our Community Partners. These partnerships include businesses, non-profit organizations, professional associations
and governmental agencies.
The end goal for students participating in the World Affairs Challenge is for them to experience the power of their own creative problem solving. Teams are required to work with a community (at home or abroad) to connect with people directly affected by the problem they addressed. In this way, students take REAL ACTION to solve their chosen global issue. Past participants agree that this is the most impactful portion of the WAC experience, and one that can truly help change the course of their lives.
On September 25th 2015, countries adopted a set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new UN sustainable development agenda. WAC aligns with this vision and selected the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as the framework for the 2018 theme, Smart Planet.
